There is no clear-cut distinction between trees and shrubs, but generally, trees are over 20 feet tall and have trunks more than 2 inches in diameter at 4.5 feet above the ground. Shrubs are smaller than trees and often have many small stems rising from the base. This gallery consists of images of native shrubs photographed in the Upper Peninsula.
