The Big Creek Homestead is blessed with an ancient orchard of hierloom apple varieties. Maintaining the health and productivity of such an orchard involves a lot of work, but the rewards are worth it. This is especially true if one considers the work to be a benefit. The fruits attract a vast array of wildlife, and cider-making parties are always joyful social events. All the photos this gallery were shot at Big Creek Homestead, the photographer’s home near Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
