The Gardens at Big Creek Homestead are mostly for food, with a few flower beds and outlying patches of semi-cultivated food plants and wildflowers. With our excessively-drained soil and cold climate, we have relied heavily on home-grown manure (horse and rabbit), automated drip irrigation, and a walk-in hoop house.
All the photos this gallery were shot at Big Creek Homestead, the photographer’s home near Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
