What are Abstract Photographs?
Although there is no generally accepted definition of abstract art, abstract images are generally not immediately associated with the objective world. This is less true of abstract photographs as cameras capture images of the real world (however distorted) rather than representing the artist’s imagination. Thus, abstract photos of the natural world often have recognizable subjects, but their appeal is dominated by purely visual elements rather than an appreciation of the subject matter.
All photographs in the Abstracts Gallery were taken in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (the UP).
